Fences in our lives

I didn't know my neighbor till the day of the " fence" came. Little bit unsure and defensive of what he might find he knocked on our doors. The fence was in need of change so we welcomed their suggestion. Today I saw for the first time how do we look without the fence. It looked welcoming and beautiful.
Without need to hide.
It reminded me of the "fence" we put to eachother in life. While other wants to open it and invite us in, we refuse and instead we put the big and even newer fence on. Why? What we are hiding and what we are afraid of?
In Australia there is a special law just for fences. Here Im talking about the fence that is more then just a piece of wood. Fence that is part of our hearth and humanity. When we live somwhere or as a part of one family, society we are one heart. We depend on a goodwill and good of others. When we close the "fence" we cut this one heart in half. It is still there but not complete and unfulfilled.
So today think about the fences you are putting on around you. Are they are helping you to have better relationships and be more happier or they are locking you up.
Do you have a fence that need to be  open?Or you need it as a border line to protect yourself? From what? Are you strong enough to be who you are without closing yourself? What is it that you are afraid of  in opening up to other half of the heart?

With Love,
Julija
